Philippine church wedding
Filipinos are devoutly religious. Their religiosity is something that they cherish most highly, and it is not surprising that any Philippine wedding usually takes place inside a sprawling church.
Church wedding is the most recognizable of all themes in marital celebrations. In fact, it is found in all countries regardless of religion. In the Philippines, this practice of holding the wedding inside the church has a lot of meanings.
Divine blessing. It is said that a married couple needs to be blest before nestling to their new marital life. Philippine wedding inside the church gives out this blessing through any spiritual minister or ministers, like Catholic priests or Protestant pastors.
Communal permission. As Filipinos are deeply communal people, having a marital celebration inside the Church signifies approval from people who are attending. It is also a concrete sign that the community acknowledges the union and is happy about it.
Sentimental value. For most women, having a Philippine wedding is like a dream come true. Not only are they wearing white flowing wedding gowns, they also have filled their wedding day with fond memories such as the church chorale singing in the background, pews bedecked with fresh flowers, and an unrolled carpet for the couple to trod upon.
